“I’m not a beauty queen, I am the woman who just wants to feel her best,” she says. “If it’s messy and you’re like, ‘Oh my God, what did I do?’ then that’s too much.”
Elizabeth Olsen has been in the spotlight for her role as Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Infinity War. She is also an accomplished actress and director, having starred in films such as Martha Marcy May Marlene, Silent House, and Godzilla. In this interview with Glamour magazine she shares her 9 favorite beauty products.
In “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Elizabeth Olsen plays the Scarlet Witch, a deranged sorceress who is as vicious as she is determined and anxious to recover what is rightfully hers. Olsen received Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nods for her depiction of Wanda Maximoff, a.k.a. the Scarlet Witch, in the Disney+ limited series “WandaVision” in 2021.
Given her newfound prominence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Olsen is open to a movie spinoff if one ever crosses her desk. “The more people who inquire about it, the more I think, ‘Well, I suppose I should.’” “If the tale was excellent, I’d be there,” she adds.
Her appearance in the film is befitting to her character: brooding, dramatic, and arresting. Off set, however, Olsen takes a more relaxed approach to her look, favoring a minimalist and selected approach to what she puts on her face and avoiding heavy makeup. Olsen admits that “skin care products are her life,” but she also understands what works. “Just as crucial as my cosmetics regimen is my skin care routine.” “I go in every day after work and instantly wash it all off,” she adds.
The actress reveals the skin care, cosmetics, and hair items that make up her “collection” of beauty goods.
Favorite skin care products of Elizabeth Olsen
The Rich Cream Augustinus Bader
Nordstrom and Sephora have items starting at $89
This celebrity-favorite moisturizer is ultra-rich without being oily, according to Olsen. It’s even been dubbed our best high-end face moisturizer. “I discovered that water dries out my skin, so instead of doing nothing, I had to moisturize extremely rapidly,” she explains.
Trio of 111 Skin Eye Masks
Dermstore is $30.72.
This set includes three of the brand’s most popular eye masks: one for anti-aging, one for depuffing, and one for illuminating, all of which brighten and refresh your under-eye region. “On the road, I’ve been disguising more because I’ve needed to,” Olsen adds. “I like using 111Skin masks. “Those are incredible.”
SPF 40 Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen
Supergoop has items starting at $20.
This is the sunscreen that doesn’t feel like sunscreen since it’s colorless, odorless, and light. “I use Supergoop!, but I make sure to check the UV index every time.” I don’t want to use SPF just to be safe. So I’m looking at the weather app, and if it reads one or two degrees, I’m not going to apply SPF even though the sun is shining. “Unless I’m out in the sun, I don’t like using sunscreen,” Olsen admits.
Nordstrom, $180
This mask may be used up to three times per week to hydrate and freshen your skin. Olsen says she’s “in love” with it.
Wipes that are gentle on the skin
Target: $4.99
She also knows when she spots a nice pharmacy offer. She like face wipes, especially Simple’s, since they exfoliate while gently removing makeup.
Elizabeth Olsen’s favorite cosmetics
Eye Pod Eyeshadow Singles by Westman Atelier
Sephora, $32
These eyeshadows by famous makeup artist Gucci Westman are lightweight and buildable and made with natural pigments. Olsen describes them as “shiny yet dewy.” “Anything I can put on with my fingertips appeals to me.” I’m not looking for a brush. “All I want to do is this.”
Glow Stick Multi-Use Chanel Baume Essentiel
Nordstrom and Ulta have it for $45
Olsen adds a splash of color using Chanel’s moisturizing, thin tints, which don’t need the use of a brush. “These Chanel sticks are the greatest,” she explains, “because they highlight.” “Those are fantastic.”
Pillow Talk Push Up Lashes Mascara by Charlotte Tilbury
Charlotte Tilbury is $29
Olsen’s eyes shine thanks to this volumizing and extending mascara, which she wears offscreen as well. “In my everyday life, I don’t wear much make-up,” she admits. “I like Charlotte Tilbury’s cosmetics. Her lip stain is gorgeous. I also like the mascara.”
Elizabeth Olsen’s hair product of choice
Full Shampoo by Virtue
Dermstore charges $40.
Olsen tries to avoid washing her hair every day wherever feasible. When she does, she utilizes Virtue’s shampoos, including this one, which was designed to increase volume without stripping hair. It was created by famous hairdresser Adir Abergel.
